Understanding The Impact Of Bias

September 9, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Understanding The Impact Of Bias

Today, there is extreme polarization in our country, and it is creating an environment of distrust and hostility. Prejudice and anger against people who don’t share our race, ethnicity, gender, religion, national origin, or political persuasion have divided the United States more than ever.

Some are desiring to understand what is at the root of these divisions and how to heal them. Research shows that mindfulness practices can help us become aware of and correct various biases that we may have that play a significant role in in-tolerance, prejudice, and social friction.

Bias is a prejudice in favor or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way to be unfair. There are two types of biases, conscious (also known as explicit bias) and unconscious bias (also known as implicit bias).

In this month’s Manfulness Living gathering, we are going to unpack our understanding and experience with our own biases, both conscious and unconscious.

With our proven processes and peer-to-peer input, you will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the biases we each have
  • Become aware of how these biases are impacting our lives and the lives of others
  • How to shift our relationship with our biases to live a more inclusive life

The event is confidential, facilitated, and transformative.
