Mindfulness and Meditation:
Man’s New Frontier for a Healthier Life
The Good Men Project concludes there are two thirds more women looking into meditation than men for the numerous mental and physical benefits that come from it; is it time for males to consider a little peace of mind?
The process of meditation can seem a little intimidating to someone who has never tried something as unique as this, yet, like everything, it takes practice.
Here are just a few reasons why men should take the leap into meaningful meditation and mindfulness:
1) Learn to Control your Emotions
Meditation is the reigns to your stallion-like feelings: you can get a better grip and learn more about yourself in the process.
Temperaments, like anger, come from years of frustration. Mindfulness lets you take back control of your emotions. When you begin to feel moods in the future, you will be able to suppress them and think more clearly.
2) It is a Stress Reliever
Life can be stressful, but you do not have to let it dictate your decisions.
Meditation reduces seemingly overpowering stress and anxiety, opening new windows of optimism and joy for you to use to see the world.
The results may just surprise you!
3) Returning to Reality from Work
Sometimes, your work feels like it follows you home; from afterwork phone calls to late-night emails, there must be a way to get away from it all. Thankfully, meditation is a remedy!
To unwind from work, mindfulness can help cool you down, transitioning you back into a comfortable state of mind.
4) Competition can Feel Less Pressuring
Do your friends have great financial success, fast sports cars and mansions? It’s okay to set goals, but you should not let jealousy or an anxiety to keep up with others’ successes stop you from enjoying every day.
Meditation keeps you in the moment. Let your goals be something to strive for, not something that controls you.
Mindfulness and meditation are things that everyone can benefit from no matter the gender! Consider giving them a try and prepare to feel better about those around you and yourself.
